There was a Blue Waters Initiative proposed to ease the tax burden on undeveloped lakeshore. It was tabled for years. Now that most of the lake property has been sold, the dizzying speed that the MN Senate would take to force a dock/shore use compliance is surprising. Add to the mix that those who propose that dock areas harm lakes have only theories. Isn't it curious that Senator Mary Olson and Dan Siems are so focused on blaming dock structures for what they perceive to be a problem? How unfortunate that they manipulate data and try to manipulate people, and are not at all objective.

The DNR has only been sampling the shoreline species very recently on the lake where I live, whether the abundant results they've found could as easily be because of the docks rather than in spite of them. Nevertheless, the docks are there, have been for years, and results are positive to date.

Thanks to the DNR and to P.O.P.U.L.A.R. for constructive meetings. Sorting it out beforehand is far more sensible than hurrying to adopt another position that would have to be rescinded. The legislature shouldn't be as concerned about whom to blame, especially since the Senate and the House might've made a difference when they had the chance. It doesn't appear that they've made too many decisions that benefit the lake property owners. Why do they want Dock Police so soon, before there is reason to do so?
Give it time!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1032882769562488358.post-88681199978562028982008-03-13T06:27:00.000-07:002008-03-13T06:27:00.000-07:00Bravo!!
